Health Canada is recalling 71,000 lawn mowers sold by Canadian Tire after multiple incidents of the machines "catching fire."
This recall involves the Certified 10a 2-in-1 Electric mower, 14" and Certified 12a 2-in-1 electric mower, 17".
The motor may overheat, posing a fire hazard, Health Canada said in its recall warning issued Wednesday, June 30.
As of June 15, 2021, the company has received eight reports (six of model 060-0739 and two of model 060-0740) of incidents relating to units overheating and resulting in (or leading to potential of) the unit "catching fire," and no reports of injuries.
The company reported that 71,000 units of the affected product were sold in Canada from January 2019 to June 2021.
"Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products and return them to any Canadian Tire Store for a full refund," Health Canada said.
