The vehicle stop happened in the 1500 block of Ouellette Avenue around 12:10 p.m.
Windsor police said a patrol officer noticed the motorized scooter violating the Highway Traffic Act.
Once the scooter was stopped, the officer investigated further and determined the scooter had been reported as stolen.
The 51-year-old scooter rider was arrested on a charge of possessing property obtained by crime.
A subsequent search of the arrest subject uncovered quantities of illicit drugs: 23.3 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 1.6 grams of what police describe as “red fentanyl.”
Said to be more toxic than previous forms of fentanyl, “red fentanyl” began appearing in Ontario in the past year.
A rash of overdoses in the Guelph area earlier this summer — with three fatalities — has been potentially linked to “red fentanyl.”
