PRINCE GEORGE – Many of the scientists who study bats agree they are typically seen in a bad light. This public attitude has contributed to the general decline of bat populations. Some bats species in BC are listed as vulnerable or threatened.

In the Prince George region, there are six or seven species of bats. According to Dr. Erin Baerwald UNBC, Assistant Professor says in British Columbia, we have the most extraordinary bat diversity of bats in Canada.

It has been a challenging decade for bats in North America as a fungus has killed many.
